Meet Our Team
Get to know us – here’s a little bit about each of the Sunny Days team, in their own words.
Brenda Spick
Centre Manager & Registered, Qualified Teacher
Kia Ora, my name is Brenda Spick. I have been a local in Helensville for nearly 20 years. I have four fantastic children and plenty of animals! I love to garden and going to the beach. I am a fully registered early childhood teacher. I started my time in ECE as a centre cook 17 years ago and worked my way up, learning new skills daily. I have recently learnt how to play the ukulele (badly)! I was with my previous employer for 14 years so it was a natural step to move on and try something new. Three of my four children attended Sunny Days Preschool and I was also Chairperson here a few years ago.
Monique Stevens
Registered, Qualified Teacher
Kia Ora, my name is Monique. I moved to Helensville over 8 years ago and have loved being a part of our beautiful community. I grew up with a passion for children and always knew that I would grow up working alongside them. Children are born such capable and confident learners and I feel like adults, we can always learn so much from them. I have worked in ECE since high school, having a few years off to raise my own two babies.
Rachel Hobson
Registered, Qualified Teacher – Under 2s Room
Kia Ora, my name is Rachel. I have been teaching in ECE for over 25 years, I gained a Diploma of Teaching in 2003, I have enjoyed working at Sunny Days Preschool for the past 3 years. My teaching philosophy is, children learn through exploration and play. All children deserve love, respect, fun and to be supported throughout their learning journey.
I have two school age children who keep me on my toes when I’m not working at Sunny Days. I enjoy riding my bicycle and fishing.
Sheena Johnson
Registered, Qualified Teacher
Kia Ora, my name is Sheena. I have worked in ECC education for the past 12 years and gained a ECE Bachelor of Teaching Degree in September 2010. No day is ever the same whilst working alongside our little future leaders and this excites me.
I have been lucky enough to call Helensville my home for my entire life. Helensville is like and anchor for my family, we never drift off far. I have a gorgeous daughter who attends our local school. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, going to the beach and most of all spending time with my family and friends.
