Meet Our Team
Qualified, Fully Registered ECE Teacher – Supervisor
I started at Sunny Days in 2005 as an unqualified relieving teacher. Over the time I was motivated to complete my Bachelor of Teaching ECE. After seeing the rewards I watch the children grow and develop as confident learners. I am very passionate about supporting not only the children in my care but also the community to ensure we provide a safe, nurturing, happy environment at Sunny Days. I have six wonderful children and 12 grandchildren who I love sending time with every chance I get.
Qualified, Fully Registered ECE Teacher – Supervisor 2IC
Kia Ora, my name is Sheena Johnson and I have been lucky enough to call Helensville my home for my entire life. Helensville is like an anchor for my family, we never drift off far. I have worked in Early Childhood education for the past 10 years and gained a Bachelor of Teaching and full registration. I have a gorgeous nearly five-year-old daughter who attends Sunny Days alongside me, she will eventually move on to our local primary school. No day is every the same whilst working alongside our future leaders and this excites me. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, going to the beach and most of all spending time with my family and friends.
Qualified, Fully Registered ECE Teacher – Under 2s Room
Kia Ora, my name is Rachel Hobson. I moved into the area in 2016 with my two children, who attend Parakai School. Before that I had lived and worked in Albany for 4 years. My journey working with children began in 1990 where I became a qualified nanny. This then lead to me pursuing a career in Early Childhood. Back in 1994 I attended the Manukau Institute of Technology and gained my professional childcare certificate. I then carried on and completed my Diploma of teaching in 2001. I believe that children learn through exploration and play and they all deserve love, respect and support throughout their learning journey. I am excited to be living and working in the community and look forward to meeting new families!
Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts, Teacher
Hi, I have been working at Sunny Days for a long time as a regular part-time staff member. I love working with local children and having an enriching community family connection is rewarding. Also watching the children develop and grow and become lifelong learners. I enjoy working in the outside environment and creative areas of play.
Qualified, Fully Registered ECE Teacher
Hello everyone, my name is Nadia Herlihy, I am a qualified registered teacher. I have been teaching for 15 years and specialise with children 3 years and over and preparation for school. I also am passionate with working with children with special needs. I am Incredible Years trained and have been implementing the Incredible Years Programme for several years. I am excited to join the team here at Sunny Days and look forward to getting to know you and your children and being a part of their learning journey.
I have been with Sunny Days since February 2002. I have lived in Helensville for 29 years, and I am really happy to be working in my own community. I enjoy teaching and learning alongside the children, and love how every day is different. In my spare time, I like listening to music, gardening and spending time with family.
Financial Administrator & Committee Executive
I have been at Sunny Days since April 2011 as Financial Administrator and Committee Executive. This is a great challenge for me, to make sure Sunny Days succeeds financially, to gain new educational resources and upgrade and develop the centre from strength to strength. It is great to see we can keep providing parents with affordable quality childcare in the Helensville community.
I have lived and worked in Helensville all my life. Before having children I was a sole charge administrator for a building company for nine years. I am also a self-employed partner with my husband in a carpet and flooring company. We have two adorable children who attend Helensville Primary School.
I am of Ngati Kahungunu, relocated to the Kaipara in February 2005 with my husband and children. We have now completed our whanau, eleven of us. While raising our tamariki, I have had opportunities within ECE groups, primary and secondary schools where I have gained a sound understanding of the individual uniqueness of a child, also the importance of creating a loving and caring learning environment. I have a passion for teaching and have much more to contribute. I am about to start my journey towards a Bachelor of Teaching and look forward to the many challenges that lay ahead. Also I look forward to building a strong relationship with the children, parents and staff of Sunny Days.
He Whakaaro pai ki ahau. Mahia I o mahi katoa. Whatever you do, do your best.
